1. What are the default username and password?
Admin / docmgr (yes, the password is case sensitive) However, you should change this in the create_db.sql script before you install so that unauthorised people can not guess the username/passord and gain god mode access to your files!
2. Why can't I login with the correct username and password?
Check which version of SDMS you are using, and which version of PHP, as some security fixes made to variable and session handling by the PHP people had an impact on the way SDMS works. Firstly, don't use PHP3, but get PHP 4.1 or higher. Really.
Then, for SDMS versions 1.x.x, make sure the following is set in your php.ini file:
register_globals = on
SDMS 2.0 (currenty only available as CVS version) was written for PHP4 from the ground up and thus does not require old-style variables. You can set:
register_globals = off
3. The login screen shows no image and there are "; echo ""; statements on the page.
In your php.ini file, make sure you have short_open_tag = on
Alternatively, you can change all occurrences of <? to <?php in all source files.
4. Why can't I upload large files?
Both PHP and MySQL need to be configured to cope with large files, after all, the files are stored in a database using an INSERT query. Set the max_allowed_packet variable for mysql in /etc/my.cnf to
set-variable = max_allowed_packet=16M
and restart your MySQL server. In addition, you need to tweak PHP. Edit php.ini and choose values for the following variables:
max_execution_time = 30
You can increase these values if you need larger files.
5. How do I upgrade to version 2?
Quite easy. You unpack the tarball thenconfigure it so it can access the database. How make a directory called "files" to which the apache user has write access. Now get the following files and put them in your SDMS directory:
Now point your browser at http://your-server/sdms/convert.php, log in as user with God mode access and follow the instructions on screen.
